10 Reasons Living In Orange County is Awesome!

Owning a home in American is the ultimate American Dream.  Owning a home in Orange County is like icing on the cake…it’s the bonus…it’s the best!

I didn’t grow up here, but am honored to now call this place my home. Why do I like it so much?

1.  The Beaches

I love the beaches and we have miles and miles of them. The sand is great and the water temperature is warm enough in the summer to swim without a wetsuit. My Favorite: Laguna Beach

2.  The Ocean

The ocean is a vast expanse of water that cannot be tamed. When I sit at the edge of the ocean I realize how powerful it is. As a Christian, I am reminded how big my God is, and how He can take care of any problems that concern me. The ocean is fun for play as well: surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, and more. I love the ocean.

3.  The Mountains

We have some of the best mountain towns and resorts within 100 miles. Everyone should have a get away place in the mountains. When I’m up in the mountains I love going outside at night and looking at the stars. I love hearing the wind blow through the pines and watching the sunset over the valleys.  The air is fresh and clean and the mountains are a place of refreshing peace. My favorite: Lake Arrowhead.

4.  The Deserts

The deserts are hot, dry, and a great place to hang out when you want to see how huge our deserts are. Again, they are just an hour away and serve as a playground for dozens of outdoor activities such as hiking, motorcycles, quads, dune buggies, and golf (best in the winter).

5.  The Restaurants

If you like dining out, we’ve got more restaurants than you will ever be able to visit in your lifetime. For those that have lived here and moved away, you know we have the best Mexican food ever! We have restaurants that represent every nationality and the best American restaurants too. My favorite: The Ranch at Laguna Beach.

6.  The Schools

Our school systems have international acclaim. They are the best of the best and provide great opportunities for our children to get public or private education from the finest teachers. Check out Irvine School district ranked #3 in the nation.

7.  The Shopping

If you like to shop, we have more than enough malls, big box stores, and retail outlets. You can find anything and everything here in OC. My favorite outdoor shopping mall is Fashion Island in Newport Beach. The koi fish, restaurants, and outdoor walkways make for a great family outing.

8.  The Churches

We are blessed to have hundreds of great churches that have powerful teachers and great music. Churches provide great teaching and serve their communities in so many ways; we are blessed by their presence. My favorite, Mariner’s Church in Irvine (I’ve been going there over 10 years).

9.  The Weather

In the real estate community we joke that the reason home prices are so high in OC is because we have a “weather tax”. You pay for having great weather all year around. On most days you can wear shorts and a t-shirt. We do get some rainy days, but not enough to get you down. We see the sun almost everyday too and taking in those rays is really good for the soul.

10.  Disneyland

Many would argue that this is the number 1 reason to live in OC but this list is not in order of priority so I can make it number 10. Millions flock to this small piece of land in the center of OC every year to experience the happiest place on earth. For annual pass holders the Park is a place to hang out, eat, and spend time with friends and family. Nightly parades and fireworks (the best fireworks!) are magical and create memories that will last a lifetime.
